Fighting Food Insecurity

Through the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack™ (CHIPP), ECF and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®,  Lambda Kappa Omega (LKO) chapter provide weekend and holiday meals for children within local communities. CHIPP is Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s(TM) most ambitious childhood hunger program to date.

Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code Clubs are free programs for 3-12 graders of all genders in schools, libraries, community centers and extracurricular spaces. Designed by educators, these clubs prepare young learners for 21st century opportunities and offer a sisterhood of supportive role models and peers. They also have college and career and summer programs.

Kozy Kerchiefs(TM) and Kozy Kaps(TM)

Working with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Lambda Kappa Omega chapter, ECF has sponsored the Kozy Kerchiefs and Kozy Kaps program since 2002. Through the years, about 2,000 comfort kerchiefs and kaps have been made with love, compassion and hope and then distributed to cancer and wellness treatment centers throughout Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Relay for Life: The Walking Ivies

In partnership with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Lambda Kappa Omega chapter, ECF supports the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. This community-based engagement and fundraising event benefits the American Cancer Society and many other Cancer-related institutions, societies, and associations. The LKO team, The Walking Ivies, participates in Relay for Life annually.

In 2024, The Walking Ivies raised $6,699.30 to support the American Cancer Society. 

Annual Book Signing and Scholarship Celebration

This event features internationally acclaimed best-selling authors who read and participate in a facilitated discussion about their work.  The celebration serves as the Foundation's official scholarship announcement and awards ceremony.

Mental Health and Wellness

ECF partners with The Growth and Healing HUB, a behavioral health and wellness clinic of excellence, located in Alexandria, Virginia. The HUB’s mission is to grow and nurture the health and emotional wellbeing of all children, youth and families living in Fairfax County. Their services address mental health and wellness in a diverse community that has been identified as a mental health desert.
